Rules for Submission, Reviewing, and Publication

The editorial staff accepts for consideration previously unpublished only manuscripts including articles, translations, documentary sources, surveys, reviews, etc. Sent materials should be in conformity with journal’s profile (economics,history, foreign and domestic policies of China, Japan, the States of the Korean Peninsula, other Asia-Pacific countries and the Russian Far East); to reflectthe personal contribution of the author in the development of scientific problem; to have scientific relevance and novelty; to conform to journal’s technical requirements for submission of manuscripts.

Formatting Requirements for Materials Provided by the Authors to the Editorial Office

Manuscript should contain both Russian and English versions of:

1. An article title (bold font)
2. Information about the author/authors: full name, scientific degrees, rank, affiliation (University/ Organization, department, position, city, country, postal address), ORCID (required!), e-mail.
3. Abstract (200–250 words).
4. Key words (4–8 words).
5. Funding sources.
6. Acknowledgements.
7. For citation (surname and initials of author/authors and an article title only).

Manuscripts are accepted as electronic file in doc format (MS Word 1997–2003), font – Times New Roman, point size – 12, line spacing – 1.5. SimSun font should be used for Chinese characters only.

Page header (title, abstract, key words, etc.) is typed in regular font with left alignment. No indentation is required. The title only appears in boldface.

The main text of the article: alignment to the width of the page, paragraph indentation – 1.25.

It is not recommended to use capital letters for text and headings, unless directly citing sources. It is not recommended to use underlining.

The volume of the article: no more than 40,000 typographical units including spaces.

The manuscript should have consecutive page numbering including bibliography ( литература) and references. Graphic materials (maps, tables, figures, photographs) appearing in the text should be listed with its own consecutive numbers ( Рис. 1. Figure 1, Рис. 2. Figure 2.; Таблица 1 / Table 1, Таблица 2/ Table 2, etc.) and accompanied by captions.

Document file name: full name of the author, title of the article. If the title is long, then it should be shortened.

Graphic files are provided separately as grayscale TIFF files with a resolution of at least 300 dpi or inserted into a Word document. Graphic files should be accompanied by captions. In-text references to graphic materials are given in parentheses with regular font: ( рис.1). Russian-language sources below figures should be accompanied by a translation into English; Oriental languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) should be accompanied by translations into Russian and English.

Footnotes in materials should be subpage in consecutive order. All bibliographic references (in the list of references and footnotes) are drawn up without abbreviations: author ( surname and initials in italics), original title [Oriental-languages articles should be provided with Russian translation of author’s full name and article title in square brackets], publication title (of journal, collection of articles, monograph, etc.), editor ( surname and initials in italics), place of publication, publishing house, year of publication, page. Both volume and issue numbers are required in references to journal articles, editor-in-chief and publishing house are not. The titles of journals, collections, monographs and archives are given in italics. It is highly recommended to indicate the DOI of the articles.

Reference to archival documents: [ РГАСПИ, ф. 82, д. 1265, оп. 2, л. 34]. The names of the archives are abbreviated; the list of references is preceded by a list of abbreviations of the names with an English translation.

E-journal articles should be referenced as print journal articles with added full email address + access date.

Repeating footnotes are written in full.

Next is cited literature in Oriental languages (disaggregated by every language).

References should contain: author ( surname and initials in italics), original title [Oriental-languages articles should be provided with English translation of author’s full name and article title in square brackets], publication title (of journal, collection of articles, monograph, etc.), editor ( surname and initials in italics), place of publication, publishing house, and year of publication.
